In short

  • Your habits, journal, moods, to-dos and island progress are stored on your device. Kitsune has no accounts and no cloud sync of its own.
  • Kitsune uses Google AdMob for advertising and Google Firebase to help the app run reliably. Both can process device identifiers and usage data.
  • You stay in control of ad tracking and your advertising ID through your device settings, and you can change your mind at any time.

01What this policy covers

This policy is about Kitsune, the habit tracker for iPhone, iPad and Android, and this website, which introduces the app. “We” and “us” mean the team that makes Kitsune. Questions about anything here can go to nexmindltd.support@gmail.com.

02What stays on your device

Kitsune does not need an account, and we do not run a server that receives your activity in the app. The following is stored locally on your device, in the app’s own database:

  • your habits, schedules, completions, reminders and notes;
  • your journal entries, moods, to-dos and timer sessions;
  • your mascot’s name, your settings and your weather history;
  • your Energy, Stardust, levels, islands, items, outfits, visitors and badges.

We do not send this information to AdMob or Firebase. You can erase it at any time with “Delete all data” in Settings. Removing the app also deletes its local data, according to how your device handles app removal. The database is not separately encrypted by the app, and your device’s own backups, such as iCloud or Android backups, may include it. Those backups are managed by your device and its provider, not by us.

03Advertising with Google AdMob

Kitsune uses AdMob, an advertising service from Google, to show ads in versions of the app that display them. AdMob works through the Google Mobile Ads SDK, which runs inside the app and connects to Google’s servers when an ad is requested. The data is used for advertising, analytics and fraud prevention: to deliver and measure ads, limit how often you see the same ad, prevent abuse and, where you allow it, personalize ads.

According to Google’s disclosures, the SDK can collect:

DataWhat it means
Device identifiersOn iPhone and iPad, the advertising identifier (IDFA) if you allow tracking, or other identifiers limited to the app or developer. On Android, the advertising ID and app set ID.
IP address and coarse locationYour IP address, which may be used to estimate your general location. Not your precise location.
Advertising dataSuch as which ads you have seen.
Product interactionsSuch as app launches, taps and video views.
Performance and diagnosticsSuch as app launch time, hang rate, energy use and crash logs.

Your choices

  • iPhone and iPad. Kitsune asks through Apple’s App Tracking Transparency prompt before the advertising identifier can be used. If you decline, you may still see ads, but they will not use that identifier and may be less relevant. Change this any time in iOS Settings, under Privacy & Security, then Tracking.
  • Android. You can reset or delete your advertising ID in your device’s settings menu, usually under Privacy, then Ads.
  • EEA, UK and Switzerland. Where the law requires it, a consent message from Google’s User Messaging Platform appears before ads load. You can review your choice from the privacy options in the app’s settings.
  • Your Google controls. You can manage ad personalization in Google’s My Ad Center.

Ads are chosen and served by Google and its partners, not by us. Tapping an ad may take you outside Kitsune, where the advertiser’s own terms and privacy practices apply. Learn more in how Google uses information from apps that use its services, the Google Mobile Ads SDK disclosures for iOS and Android, and the Google Privacy Policy.

04App services with Google Firebase

Kitsune includes Firebase, Google’s platform for building and operating apps. We use it to keep the app reliable and to understand, in general terms, how it is performing. What Firebase handles depends on the features enabled in the version of Kitsune you use:

FeatureData it can processHow long
Firebase CoreApp configuration needed to connect Kitsune to Firebase services.Not used to store your activity
Google Analytics for FirebaseAn app-instance identifier, general app-usage events such as sessions and screen views, device and system details, and a coarse location derived from your IP address.Under Google’s Analytics retention settings
CrashlyticsCrash traces, a Crashlytics installation UUID and a Firebase installation ID.90 days

For most Firebase services Google acts as a data processor or service provider on our behalf. Google Analytics is provided under its own terms. Most Firebase services run on Google’s global infrastructure, so data may be processed wherever Google operates. Read Privacy and Security in Firebase for details.

05Notifications and widgets

If you allow notifications, Kitsune schedules local reminders on your device: habit reminders, a timer alert, a nudge when your island’s Weather is low, and an optional morning summary. Widgets on iPhone and iPad show a short local summary, such as your progress, your mascot’s mood and your next habit. A widget on the Lock Screen can show a habit’s name, so its visibility is worth checking in your device settings.

06Kitsune Pro purchases

Purchases are handled by the App Store or Google Play through your store account. We never receive your card details. The app only learns from the store whether Kitsune Pro is active on your account. The store’s own privacy policy applies to the payment.

07Backups you export

You can export a backup through your device’s share sheet. It is a plain, unencrypted file containing your local data, including your journal text. Wherever you send that file, such as a cloud drive or a messaging app, handles it under its own terms, so please keep it somewhere you trust. Share cards you create contain only what they show on the card, and go only where you send them.

08When you email us

If you write to us, we receive your email address and whatever you include. We use your message to reply, and our email provider processes it to deliver and store it. Please leave out passwords and payment details.

09Why we handle this information

Depending on where you live, we rely on one or more of these legal grounds:

  • Consent, for personalized advertising and tracking where the law requires it;
  • Legitimate interests, for funding Kitsune through ads, keeping it secure and stable, and preventing fraud;
  • Providing the service, for purchases and answering your requests;
  • Legal obligations, where we are required to keep or disclose information.

10Sharing and selling

We do not sell your personal information for money. Beyond the providers named in this policy, information may be disclosed where the law requires it, or to protect safety and legal rights.

Some US state laws treat sharing identifiers for personalized advertising as a “sale” or “sharing”. To opt out, use your device’s tracking or advertising ID settings and Google’s ad controls above. Google, Cloudflare and our email provider operate in several countries, so information may be processed outside the country where you live, subject to the safeguards the law requires.

11How long information is kept

Local data stays on your device until you delete it or remove the app. Google keeps AdMob and Firebase data according to its own policies and the periods listed above. We keep support emails only as long as reasonably needed to help you and to meet legal obligations. No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect what we handle.

12Your rights

Depending on your location, you may have the right to access, correct or delete your personal information, object to or restrict its use, withdraw consent, and complain to a data protection authority. Most of Kitsune’s data lives only on your device, so you can delete it yourself. For anything else, email nexmindltd.support@gmail.com. Because Kitsune has no accounts, we may not be able to link Google’s data to you, so for that data please also use the controls described above.

13Children

Kitsune is not directed at children under 13, or the minimum age required in your country, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, email us and we will delete it.

14This website

This website is delivered and protected by Cloudflare. Loading a page sends technical information such as your IP address, browser type, requested page and time, which is used to serve the page and keep it secure. The site shows no ads, sets no advertising cookies, runs no analytics, and loads its fonts from its own server. The little demos on the home page run only in your browser and save nothing.

15Changes to this policy

We will update this page when Kitsune or its providers change, and revise the date at the top. If a change needs your consent or further notice, we will ask for it or provide it rather than relying on this page alone.
